Language 1 (TL1) was defined by based on the ITU Z.300 series of standards. TL1
is the primary method for managing conventional telecom equipment such as
access devices as well as optical networking gears such as SONET/SDH boxes. TL1
is a messaging protocol that represents data as human-readable strings of
characters rather than as objects.
