The
RADIUS authentication protocol [RFC 2865] carries authentication,
authorization, and configuration information between a Network Access Server
(Client of RADIUS), which needs to authenticate its links and a shared RADIUS
Authentication Server. RADIUS servers are responsible for receiving user
connection requests, authenticating the user, and then returning all
configuration information. A RADIUS proxy may act as a server to one or more
RADIUS authentication clients, while simultaneously acting as an authentication
client to one or more authentication servers.
