The IEEE 802.15 family of standards address Personal
Area Networks or short distance wireless networks. Such WPANs include wireless
networking of portable and mobile computing devices such as PCs, Personal
Digital Assistants (PDAs), peripherals, cell phones
and consumer electronics. The goal of this standards group is to publish
standards and recommended practices that have broad market applicability and
deal with the coexistence and interoperability of other wired and wireless
networking solutions. Bluetooth is one of the technologies adopted by this
group.
