GOOSE and GSE define a high-speed Ethernet-based
protocol to be used for communications between protection devices. They are
defined in Part 7-2.
The Goose and GSE services are used for fast
multicast communication between a publisher and one or more subscribers.
The abstract services are used for such operations as (for example) protection
event notification. The most important abstract services
(SendGooseMessage) in this group map onto short, connectionless stacks,
although some of the administrative services (querying about dataset
definitions, etc.) use full Two-Party associations.
