IEC TC88 WG25 is tasked with writing a communications
standard for the wind power industry. The standard will facilitate
communications among a collection of wind machines and other equipment within a
wind power plant (WPP) as well as with equipment and systems external to the
WPP. The development of the standard (IEC 61400-25) is requirements driven but
through participation of WG members familiar with IEC 61850, a high degree of
re-use and compatibility with IEC 61850 is anticipated. It is expected that Web
Services, rather than ISO 9506 MMS, will be used as the protocols to exchange
the data.
