Hubs/ Repeaters interconnect multiple LAN segments at
the physical layer by repeating an incoming signal at one of its port to all
other ports in a bit-by-bit manner, to result in a single broadcast/collision
domain. As such, it cannot be used to interconnect different types of LAN
technologies, e.g. between a 10BT and a 100BT Ethernet segments. Manual care is
required in order to avoid the formation of loops within the hubbed network
topology.
