Bluetooth® is a standard and specification for
low-cost, short range radio links between mobile PCs, mobile phones and other
portable devices. The technology allows users to form wireless connections
between various communication devices, in order to transmit real-time voice and
data communications. It overlaps in functionality with IEEE 802.11. It has been
adopted by IEEE 802.15, the Wireless Personal Area Network (PAN) group;. The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) is a trade
association dedicated to the development and promotion of this technology.
